We’ve said it before but it bears repeating-we are insanely fortunate to live in this creative little microcosm that’s rife with artisans, creatives, and media makers of all types. The Green Mountain Showdown is an annual event put on by that provides a platform by which we the riding public are able to enjoy the fruits of our unbelievably talented neighbors.  In addition to VT’s best MTB media, the Showdown will features some pretty heavy hitters from around the knobby-tired world.

This year, SMBC was invited to blatantly sandbag the Showdown and piggyback the event, making it our de facto end of the season party.  You gotta play to your strengths, right?  And if there’s one thing the guys at are good at, it’s throwing parties and keeping our eyeballs entertained while we tip a few back.

So join us on Saturday November 5th at the Rusty Nail for a season ending celebration of creativity and two-wheeled trickery, doors open at 7 p.m.  The lineup is unreal this year and we’re in for a night of unbelievable entertainment that also includes pizza from Piecasso, sushi from Sushi Yoshi, and beer from Idletyme.  But it’s also a helluva way to celebrate the end of one season and the beginning of another alongside your riding compatriots.   Get your tickets right here.

Mountain Bike Vermont ( has announced its fifth annual Green Mountain Showdown event will be held Saturday, November 5th, 2016, at the Rusty Nail in Stowe, Vermont. As in years past, the Green Mountain Showdown event showcases locally produced MTB video shorts, video slideshows, and spoken word pieces dedicated to all facets of mountain biking from bike fabricators to downhill competitors.

“Our goal is to elevate Vermont’s status as the heart of mountain biking in the Eastern United States,” says MTBVT founder Ryan Thibault. “The Green Mountain Showdown is a chance to celebrate our State’s love of cycling and it gives our local talent the opportunity to showcase their skill. It’s going to make for a fantastic show!”

Riders and enthusiasts of all ages are encouraged to gather for an evening of great photos, videos, and spoken word.

This year’s Showdown will also include The Rider’s Choice Awards, a series of awards based on votes submitted by the pedaling public on and will include such categories as “best bike mechanic,” “best trail network,” “best trail builder” and “best photographer.” Voting is open on until October 31st.

According to event organizer Ryan Thibault, the Rider’s Choice Awards “allow us to highlight the folks in our community that have pushed the local level of riding excellence.”
