SMBC Hires New Executive Director

Change is always bittersweet, and such is the case today as the Stowe Mountain Bike Club bids farewell to outgoing Executive Director Leslie Gauff, and welcomes new full time Executive Director, Evan Chismark.

Upon assuming the Director position, Leslie took on this relatively undefined role with grace and aplomb, keeping the Club organized and moving forward at a time of unprecedented growth and change. During Leslie’s time as Director, the Club built a host of new trails—including the instant classic, Florence. She also helped to unite SMBC with the Vermont Mountain Bike Association, and forged long lasting relationships with many key players in the Stowe. Mercifully, Leslie will remain active in the Stowe Mountain Bike Club via her role as a member of the Board of Directors and a community liaison. On behalf of the entire board and membership at large, the Club would like to thank Leslie for her service and dedication to the organization.

Incoming Director Evan Chismark brings with him nearly a decade of work in the private sector as a project manager, as well as several years in an entrepreneurial venture of his own. Evan is a pack-fill enduro hack, proponent of short-travel aggressive 29ers, and proud owner of two pure bred mutts. “I’m beyond excited for this opportunity” said Evan. “We have a lot of work to do but momentum is on our side thanks to the amazing support we get from the people of Stowe and the MTB community in the northeast. More trails, better trails, stronger community. That’s our goal.” Evan’s goals as a rider this season include finishing a race without either breaking his bike or losing blood and doing a wheelie for more than ten feet. Lofty goals indeed…
